Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT'S WITH THE NAME?

"Orange Frog Photo" just sounded quirky and fun enough to represent our style of photography.  And Beside, "Purple Frog" was taken.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our In-home Studio is located in Herriman, Utah.  About 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?

My studio is located in my home in Herriman, UT.  It is small, and really best for infants, small children and small groups (3 or less).

ARE YOU A FULL-TIME PHOTOGRAPHER?

I an NOT a full time photographer. Photography has always been my passion, but marketing is my full time profession - and pays the bills pretty well. I've reached a point in my life where I would like to put more emphasis on the things I truly enjoy... like capturing and sharing great moments! To be sure, I accept a much smaller amount of sessions than other local photographers, but I am very dedicated to those that I accept.

DO YOU PROCESS THE PICTURES (AKA PHOTOSHOP)?

I am actually very proficient on post processing, and most all pictures will require some adjustments. "Retouching" is only really required for problematic skin, and blemishes. My primary goal is to make you look you best natural you. Only the most distracting blemishes are removed. This is all part of the package price.

It is also my style to occasionally "stylize" (edit past the point of looking natural) a photo that I believe is a good candidate. I will deliver this as an extra image, and you are not obligated to pay more.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

I strive above all to capture genuine moments. I'm also just a bit quirky. Authentic is always better than posed, but of course it's hard to be "authentic" in front of a camera, so I prod my subjects just a bit ;)

During a session, I’ll help get you into place first and then encourage interaction and genuine expressions. If you're not having fun, then I'm not doing job.

I am not a "natural light" photographer.  Clearly I will use the light available to me to make the best shot, but the best shot often involves the use of flashes, strobes or reflectors.

I’M REALLY BAD AT POSING AND VERY UN-PHOTOGENIC. CAN YOU HELP?

EVERYONE tells me this before their session, and it never turns out to be true! Coaching you through the process is part of my job... as well as making you look your best (better than you probably think possible)!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT THE WEATHER IS BAD ON OUR SCHEDULED SESSION DATE?

There is no fee to reschedule to a new date if it’s snowing or raining. Utah weather changes very quickly, so I typically wait to call off a session until that morning. However, my style of photography does not necessarily require a sunny day.  It rather depends on the background, and the situation.  At any rate, you are never obligated if the day is unsuitable for portraiture.

WHAT IF MY KIDS DON’T COOPERATE?

My goal is to capture the personality of your children, including all of the beautiful quirks and details. Also, I heart babies and kids, and they generally seem to like me.  We can usually work it out.  If it turns out that it really is IMPOSSIBLE to come up with usable pictures, I will gladly reschedule at not charge.

DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL FILES?

All packages include full-resolution digital files with a print release, which allows you to reproduce images for personal use as many times as needed. I provide four versions of each photo, including color and black & white versions in both high- and low-resolution.

CAN WE DO A HOME SESSION EVEN IF HOUR HOME IS SMALL AND ORDINARY?

Yes.  My primary concern is that there is enough room for the individuals who are to be photographed, and that you - the client - are comfortable.  Most any space will do, and if natural light is not sufficient, I am quite capable flash photography.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SESSION?

Ah... this can be a tricky one. I am NOT a fashion expert.  Generally speaking we want your personality to shine through... not your taste in clothes.  Wear what you think makes you feel the most attractive.  However, avoid very busy prints that can distract the viewer.  Also, it generally never looks good when you child wears branded, busy character wear (Ninja Turtles won't look so great in the shot 20 years from now). And nuetral tones generally look best, especially when posing with a group.

CAN I KEEP THE IMAGES FROM MY SESSION PRIVATE?

All clients sign an optional model release before the session. If you would prefer to keep your images private, you may indicate your request at that time. For clients who choose to decline the model release, I absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images under lock and key.

CAN I BRING OTHERS ALONG FOR A COUPLE OF PICTURES?

Yes.  I welcome you a friend or two to make you feel more comfortable, and it’s always fun to grab an extra photo of the two of you together!

You’re also welcome to bring pets, as long as you have somewhere to keep them when they’re not being photographed. If it’s too hot to leave them in the car for awhile, then please bring someone else to hold their leash.

HOW ARE MY PICTURES DELIVERED?

When this images are ready, we will send you a link via email where you can view them and download both high and low resolution images.

WHERE SHOULD I PRINT MY PICTURES?

There are many online labs you can use.  I will provide a list upon delivery of you images.

You can get substantially lower-quality prints at the likes of Shutterfly, Target, Walmart, CVS, or Costco. These labs are not designed to handle printing professional photography. However, if you do choose to print with them, make sure you uncheck any automated editing options as this will not jive well with these level of images.
